People Are Now Trying To Get Michelle Obama To Run For President In 2020

The dust from the 2016 elections hasn’t even settled yet, but people are already working themselves up for the year 2020.

After the votes were counted this November 9th and confirmed that Donald Trump has become the 45th president of the United States, a great number of users online have decided to turn their attention and energy into the next elections taking place four years from now. Their candidate of choice? First Lady Michelle Obama.

In spite of Donald Trump’s overwhelming win, there are still many supporters of the Democratic party who were left in shock at the results. Michelle Obama is a popular choice for those who supported Hillary Clinton during her run in the presidential race.

The hashtag #Michelle2020 began trending in record time, and while many users are using it jokingly, many believe that Mrs. Obama is more than qualified for the job. She was first lady to Barack Obama for 8 years, championed a lot of charity work and inspired millions of young black women across the country.

During her time in the White House, the First Lady worked on many programs that addressed the things she was most passionate about. The Let Girls Learn initiative aimed to bring awareness to the low access to education that women face across the globe, and the Let’s Move campaign aimed to tackle childhood obesity and improve the diets of schoolchildren across the USA. She was also a co-founder of Joining Forces, which aims to support veterans and their families by providing health services, education and access to employment.

Michelle Obama is also known for her moving speech-making skills. She used her speeches to address issues like police brutality and racial tension in the USA. Her speech at the Democratic National Convention addressed the historical significance of Barack Obama becoming president by saying: ‘I wake up every morning in a house that was built by slaves. And I watch my daughters, two beautiful, intelligent black young women, playing with their dogs on the White House lawn.

Before she became a first lady, Mrs. Obama earned a Princeton degree in Law and had built a career as a hospital executive. She and Barack met at a Chicago law firm, where she worked as his superior. After Barack became president of the USA, they focused on working on the social issues that concerned all Americans, such as poverty, health and education.
